Summary:An energy storage system and an operation method thereof are disclosed. The energy storage system includes a battery part; a capacitor part; and a controller which controls the charge or discharge of the battery part as much as a unit quantity when a load increases or decreases above a predetermined unit quantity with regard to the battery part, by referring to load information provided from a monitoring system, and controls the charge and discharge of the capacitor part when the load increases and decreases below the unit quantity. 에너지 저장 시스템 및 그 운용 방법이 개시된다. 에너지 저장 시스템은, 배터리부; 커패시터부; 및 모니터링 시스템으로부터 제공되는 부하량 정보를 참조하여, 부하량이 상기 배터리부에 대해 미리 규정된 단위량 이상으로 증가 또는 감소한 경우에는 상기 배터리부가 단위량 만큼의 충전 또는 방전하도록 제어하고, 상기 부하량이 상기 단위량 이하로 증가 또는 감소한 경우에는 상기 커패시터부가 충전 또는 방전하도록 제어하는 제어기를 포함한다.
