According to an embodiment of the present invention, a power supply device and a power supply method using the same are provided. According to the embodiment, the power supply device comprises: a power supply unit configured to supply an input voltage; a power conversion unit configured to receive and convert the input voltage and to supply an output voltage to a load; a control unit configured to control the power conversion unit; and a first sensing unit configured to sense the input voltage and to output a first sensing signal. The control unit blocks power supplied from the power supply unit to the power conversion unit in correspondence with the first sensing signal. Therefore, efficiency of the power supply device can be increased. 본 실시예는 포함하는 전원공급장치 및 그를 이용한 전원공급방법을 제공하는 것이다. 본 실시예는 입력전압을 공급하는 전원공급부, 입력전압을 공급받아 컨버팅하여 출력전압을 부하에 공급하는 전력변환부, 전력변환부를 제어하는 제어부, 및 입력전압을 센싱하고 제1센싱신호를 출력하는 제1센싱부를 포함하되, 제어부는 제1센싱신호에 대응하여 전원공급부에서 전력변환부로 공급되는 전원을 차단하는 전원공급장치 및 그의 구동방법을 제공하는 것이다.
