The present invention relates to an apparatus for estimating the shape of a steel plate, an apparatus for controlling a cold rolling process, and a method for estimating the shape of a steel plate. The apparatus for estimating the shape of a steel plate comprises: a laser beam output part which outputs a laser beam to a preset position where a steel plate exists; a laser beam sensing part which senses the laser beam outputted from the laser beam output part and reflected from the steel plate; and a shape estimating part which estimates the shape of the steel plate on the basis of the sensed results of the laser beam sensing part. Therefore, the present invention detects the overlap of the steel plate, etc. by estimating the shape of the steel plate. 본 발명의 일 실시예는 강판 형상 판단 장치, 냉연공정 제어 장치 및 강판 형상 판단 방법에 관한 것으로서, 강판이 존재하는 기 설정된 위치로 레이저(laser beam)를 출력하는 레이저 출력부; 레이저 출력부에서 출력되어 강판에 의해 반사되는 레이저를 감지하는 레이저 감지부; 및 레이저 감지부의 감지 결과를 기초로 강판의 형상을 판단하는 형상 판단부; 를 포함함으로써, 강판의 형상을 판단하여 강판에 발생된 판 겹침 등을 검출할 수 있다.
