Provided are an attachment device and an electronic device control method for the same, which can construct a smart home environment without replacing legacy devices with new electronic devices. According to the control method for an attachment device, mapping information, in which data formed in a first communication format and data formed in a second communication format are mapped and which is related to a function of an electronic device to which an attachment device is attached, can be received and stored when the attachment device is selected from a list of a plurality of attachment devices by an external device. Furthermore, data formed in the second communication format and adapted to correspond to data formed in the first communication format can be acquired based on the mapping information when the data formed in the first communication format is received from an external device connected to the attachment device for communication. The data formed in the second communication format can be transmitted to the electronic device to which the attachment device is attached, and thus the function of the electronic device can be performed. 부착 기기 및 이의 전자 기기 제어 방법이 제공된다. 본 부착 기기의 제어 방법은, 외부 기기에서 복수의 부착 기기들 목록 중 상기 부착 기기가 선택되면, 부착 기기가 부착된 전자 기기의 일 기능과 관련된, 제1 통신 포맷으로 구성된 데이터 및 제2 통신 포맷으로 구성된 데이터가 매핑된 매핑 정보를 수신하여 저장한다. 그리고, 부착 기기와 통신 가능하도록 연결된 외부 기기로부터 상기 제1 통신 포맷으로 구성된 데이터를 수신하면, 상기 매핑 정보에 기초하여 제1 통신 포맷으로 구성된 데이터에 대응하는 제2 통신 포맷으로 구성된 데이터를 획득하고, 전자 기기의 일 기능이 수행되도록, 제2 통신 포맷으로 구성된 데이터를 부착 기기가 부착된 전자 기기로 전송할 수 있다.
