The present invention relates to a mobile terminal and a control method thereof, which can introduce a viewpoint good for taking a picture in tourist destinations or the like to a user in real time and can guide an image composition at the viewpoint. According to the embodiments of the present invention, the mobile terminal of the present invention can comprise: a camera; a display unit; and a control unit for displaying viewpoints in a preset radius around the present position on the display unit, when a specific viewpoint is selected among the viewpoints, guiding a path from the present position to the specific viewpoint, and, when the present position is the position of the specific view point, providing a user interface for executing the camera. 본 발명은 관광지 등에서 사진 촬영하기 좋은 뷰 포인트를 실시간으로 사용자에게 알려주고 해당 뷰 포인트에서 이미지 구도를 가이드할 수 있는 이동 단말기 및 그것의 제어방법에 관한 것으로서, 본 발명의 실시예들에 따른 이동 단말기는, 카메라와; 표시부와; 현재 위치를 기준으로 미리 설정된 반경 내의 뷰 포인트들을 상기 표시부에 표시하고, 상기 뷰 포인트들 중에서 특정 뷰 포인트가 선택되면 상기 현재 위치로부터 상기 특정 뷰 포인트까지의 경로를 안내하고, 상기 현재 위치가 상기 특정 뷰 포인트의 위치이면 상기 카메라를 실행하기 위한 사용자 인터페이스를 제공하는 제어부를 포함할 수 있다.
