The present invention relates to a messaging service providing method for providing a speech bubble effect, to a recording medium having a program therefor recorded therein and to a user terminal, wherein an emotion effect or an event effect can be provided by using a speech bubble where a message exchanged between two or more users is recorded. If a speech bubble effect is selected and designated with respect to a written message or an already displayed message, the speech bubble effect of modifying a speech bubble having the message written thereon or together outputting an effect using the speech bubble is provided when the message is displayed. The user terminal comprises: a communication part for transmitting and receiving one or more messages; a display part for outputting the one or more messages; and a control part for generating a speech bubble effect to visually provide an emotion effect. 본 발명은 둘 이상의 사용자 간에 교환되는 메시지가 기록되는 말풍선을 이용하여 감정 효과 또는 이벤트성 효과를 제공할 수 있는 말풍선 효과를 제공하는 메시징 서비스 제공 방법, 이를 위한 프로그램을 기록한 기록 매체 및 사용자 단말에 관한 것으로서, 작성된 메시지 혹은 이미 표시된 메시지에 대해 말풍선 효과를 선택하여 지정하면, 상기 메시지가 표시될 때, 상기 메시지가 쓰여진 말풍선이 변형되거나 상기 말풍선을 이용한 효과가 함께 출력되는 말풍선 효과를 제공하는 것이다.
