The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for maintaining a service connection of a terminal in a wireless communication system. A method for providing a service by a target base station in a wireless communication system comprises the following processes of: when the target base station supports an on-going service, which is the same service as a service currently received from a source base station before a terminal hands-over, transmitting, to a base station server, a service registration update request message requesting a re-establishment of an F2 bearer provided between the source base station and the base station server connected to the source base station; receiving, from the base station server, a service registration update response message indicating that the re-establishment of the F2 bearer is accepted; and receiving data related to a service, transmitted from the base station server, through the F2 bearer re-established between the target base station and the base station server, and transmitting the data to the terminal. 본 발명은 무선 통신 시스템에서 타겟 기지국이 서비스를 제공하는 방법에 있어서, 단말이 핸드오버(handover)하기 전에 소스 기지국으로부터 현재 제공 받은 서비스와 동일한 서비스인 온-고잉(on-going) 서비스를 지원할 경우, 상기 소스 기지국과 상기 소스 기지국과 연결된 기지국 서버 사이에 제공되는 F2 베어러의 재 수립을 요청하는 서비스 등록 업데이트 요청 메시지를 상기 기지국 서버에게 전송하고, 상기 기지국 서버로부터 상기 F2 베어러의 재 수립을 수락함을 나타내는 서비스 등록 업데이트 응답 메시지를 수신하고, 상기 타겟 기지국 자신과 상기 기지국 서버 사이에 재 수립된 F2 베어러를 통해, 상기 기지국 서버로부터 전송되는 서비스와 관련된 데이터를 수신하여 상기 단말에게 전송한다.
