The present invention relates to a method for controlling a clutch using a fail-safe valve and an apparatus therefor. The present invention comprises: a fail-safe valve controlling a clutch by moving toward a left side or a right side in accordance with an on/off operation of an on/off solenoid valve; and a control unit turning off the on/off solenoid valve to move the fail-safe valve toward the left side in order to apply line pressure to the clutch when engine torque is equal to and greater than a preset reference value and turning on the on/off solenoid valve to move the fail-safe valve toward the right side in order to apply control pressure of the solenoid valve to the clutch when the engine torque is low torque. 본 발명은 페일세이프 밸브를 이용한 클러치 제어 방법 및 장치에 관한 것으로서, 온오프 솔레노이드 밸브의 온오프 동작에 따라 좌측 또는 우측으로 이동하여 클러치를 제어하는 페일세이프 밸브; 및 엔진 토크가 기설정된 기준치 이상인 경우, 상기 온오프 솔레노이드 밸브를 오프시켜 상기 페일세이프 밸브를 좌측으로 이동시킴으로써 라인압을 상기 클러치에 인가하고, 엔진 토크가 저토크인 경우, 상기 온오프 솔레노이드 밸브를 온시켜 상기 페일세이프 밸브를 우측으로 이동시킴으로써 솔레노이드 밸브의 제어압을 상기 클러치에 인가하도록 제어하는 제어부를 포함한다.
