The present invention provides a heater and an image heating apparatus including the same, capable of repressing power consumption. The heater includes a substrate, a first electrical contact, a second electrical contact, a first electrode unit and a second electrode unit, a heating unit, a first wiring unit connecting the first electrical contact and the first electrode unit, and a second wiring unit electrically connecting one of the second electrical contact and a portion of the second wiring unit. A cross-sectional area of a portion of the first wiring unit, where all the currents flowing through the first electrode unit are joined when the currents flow toward the first electrical contact from the first electrode unit, is bigger than a cross-sectional area of a portion of the second wiring unit where all the currents flowing through the portion of the second electrode unit when the currents flow toward one of the second electrode unit from the portion of the second electrode unit. 히터는 기판과, 제1 전기 접점과, 제2 전기 접점과, 제1 전극부 및 제2 전극부와, 발열부와, 제1 전기 접점과 제1 전극부를 전기 접속하는 제1 배선부와, 제2 전기 접점 중 하나와 제2 배선부의 일부를 전기 접속하는 제2 배선부를 포함한다. 제1 전극부로부터 제1 전기 접점을 향해 전류가 흐를 때 제1 전극부를 통해 흐르는 모든 전류가 합류되는 제1 배선부의 부분의 단면적은 제2 전극부의 부분으로부터 제2 전극부 중 하나를 향해 전류가 흐를 때 제2 전극부의 부분을 통해 흐르는 모든 전류가 합류되는 제2 배선부의 부분의 단면적보다 크다.
