The present invention relates to a Citrus grandis Osbeck extract having skin whitening effects, and to a cosmetic composition for skin whitening, containing the extract as an active ingredient. According to the present invention, the Citrus grandis Osbeck extract not only effectively suppresses melanin production by inhibiting activities of tyrosinase which is an essential enzyme involving in a melanin production mechanism, but also shows no cytotoxicity in an application on skin by containing natural ingredients. Furthermore, the composition exhibits excellent skin whitening effects even when adding the composition into a cosmetic base as the active ingredient, thereby being useful as a natural cosmetic composition for skin whitening. 본 발명은 미백 효과를 갖는 당유자() 추출물 및 이를 유효성분으로 포함하는 미백 화장료 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따르면, 당유자 추출물은 멜라닌 생성 기작에 중요한 효소인 티로시나제(tyrosinase)의 활성을 억제하여 멜라닌 합성을 효과적으로 억제함은 물론, 천연 물질로써 피부 적용시 세포독성을 나타내지 않음에 따라 이를 유효 성분으로 화장료 베이스에 포함하였을 때도 우수한 미백 효과를 나타내어 천연 미백 화장료 조성물로서 유용하게 이용될 수 있다.
