The present invention relates to a composition for enhancing immunity and, more specifically, to a pharmaceutical composition, a food composition, a healthy food, and a feed additive for enhancing immunity containing an extract of Apios americana Medikus or a fermented extract of Apios americana Medikus as an active ingredient. The extract of Apios americana Medikus or the fermented extract of Apios americana Medikus in the present invention promotes production of immune enhancers such as NO, TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6 by increasing expression of genes or proteins thereof in a macrophage Raw 264.7 cell line, and boosts proliferation of mouse spleen cells and proliferation of T-lymphocytes and B-lymphocytes in the mouse spleen, thereby being useful as a drug and an additive for food or feed effective in enhancing immunity. Particularly, as the extract of Apios americana Medikus or the fermented extract of Apios americana Medikus in the present invention is a safe ingredient derived from a natural substance, the composition of the present invention containing the extract as an active ingredient is safe for a human body without side effects even for a long term use. 본 발명은 면역증강용 조성물에 관한 것으로, 더욱 자세하게는 유효성분으로서 아피오스 추출물 또는 아피오스 발효 추출물을 포함하는 면역증강용 약제학적 조성물; 식품 조성물; 건강기능식품 및 사료첨가제에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 아피오스 추출물 또는 아피오스 발효 추출물은 대식세포인 Raw 264.7 세포 내에서 면역증강인자인 NO, TNF-α, IL-1β 및 IL-6의 유전자 또는 단백질 발현을 증가시켜서 이들의 생성을 촉진시킬 뿐만 아니라 마우스 비장세포의 증식과 마우스 비장 내 T-림프구 및 B-림프구의 증식 촉진효과를 나타내는바, 면역증강 효능을 갖는 의약품, 식품 및 사료첨가제로 유용하게 사용될 수 있다. 특히 본 발명의 아피오스 추출물 또는 아피오스 발효 추출물은 천연물로부터 유래된 안전한 물질로서, 이를 유효성분으로 포함하는 본 발명의 조성물은 인체에 부작용 없이 장기적 사용에도 안전한 이점을 가진다.
