The present invention relates to a high-value functional food composition having a hepatoprotective activity against alcohol-induced liver injury, which can be safely used without toxicity and side effects by using an extract of Perilla frutescens Britton var. leaves, a natural resource of Korea. The food composition according to the present invention comprises a crude extract or a non-polar soluble extract of the Perilla frutescens Britton var. leaves as an active ingredient. The crude extract of the Perilla frutescens Britton var. leaves may be extracted by using one or more selected from the group consisting of water, methanol, ethanol, propanol, isopropanol, butanol, or a mixed solvent thereof as an extractant. In addition, the crude extract of the Perilla frutescens Britton var. leaves, extracted by using the extractant, may be fractionated by using one selected from the group consisting of hexane, chloroform, dichloromethane, and ethylacetate. The food composition according to the present invention: has no side effects on a human body; has an excellent hepatoprotective activity against the alcohol-induced liver injury; and uses the crude extract of the Perilla frutescens Britton var. leaves as an active ingredient, thereby being safely and usefully used for liver protection against alcohol-induced liver injury without side effects even when being taken for a long period of time. 우리나라 천연자원인 차즈기 잎 추출물을 이용하여 독성 및 부작용 없이 안전하게 사용될 수 있는 알콜성 간 손상에 대한 간 보호 기능을 갖는 고부가가치 기능성 식품조성물에 관한 것으로 차즈기 잎 조추출물 또는 비극성가용추출물을 유효성분으로 포함하며, 차즈기 잎 조추출물은 물, 메탄올, 에탄올, 프로판올, 이소프로판올, 부탄올 또는 이들의 혼합용매로 이루어진 군 중에서 선택된 1종 이상을 추출용매로 사용하여 추출한 것 일수 있으며, 추출용매를 사용하여 추출한 차즈기 잎 조추출물에 비극성가용 용매로서 헥산, 클로로포름, 디클로메탄 및 에틸아세테이트이들의 혼합물로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 어느 하나를 분획용매로 사용하여 분획한 것일 수 있다. 본 발명의 식품조성물은 인체에 부작용이 없으면서 알콜성 간 손상에 대한 간 보호 기능이 뛰어나기 때문에 천연물인 차즈기 잎 조추출물을 유효성분으로 사용함으로써 장기간 복용하여도 부작용 없이 안전한 알콜성 간 손상에 대한 간 보호에 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.
