Disclosed is an apparatus for recognizing an emotional state based on a body posture. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the apparatus comprises: an image collection unit for collecting an image; a motion feature information calculating unit for detecting a user′s silhouette from the collected image, detecting an edge from the user′s silhouette to draw an edge shape of a user, and calculating, as information on a first motion feature, the angle and the distance for each pixel detected as the edge with respect to one point in the edge shape; an emotional reference image database for storing information on a second motion feature including emotional information which individually corresponds to images indicating body postures that can be a reference of emotional determination, and information on a motion feature which is corresponded to the emotional information; and an emotional estimation unit for estimating a user′s emotion by comparing the calculated information on the first motion feature with the information on the second motion feature which is pre-stored in the emotional reference image database. 자세 기반 감정상태 인식 장치가 개시된다. 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 자세 기반 감정상태 인식 장치는 영상을 수집하는 영상 수집부; 상기 수집된 영상으로부터 사용자의 실루엣을 검출하고, 상기 사용자의 실루엣으로부터 엣지를 검출하여 사용자의 엣지 형상을 도출한 후 상기 엣지 형상 내부의 한 점을 기준으로 상기 엣지로 검출된 픽셀들 각각에 대한 각도 및 거리를 제1 동작 특징 정보로 산출하는 동작 특징 정보 산출부; 감정 판단의 기준이 되는 자세들을 나타내는 영상들 각각에 해당하는 감정 정보와 상기 감정 정보에 대응되는 동작 특징 정보를 포함하는 제2 동작 특징 정보를 저장하는 감정별 기준 영상 데이터베이스; 및 상기 산출된 제1 동작 특징정보와 상기 감정별 기준 영상 데이터베이스에 기 저장된 상기 제2 동작 특징 정보를 비교하여 사용자의 감정을 추정하는 감정 추정부를 포함한다.
