According to an embodiment of the present invention, a display device includes: a display; one or more speakers; a signal processing unit which processes an image signal to display an image on the display and output a sound from the speakers; a communication interface communicating with at least one external display device; and a control unit which transmits the sound processed by the signal processing unit to the speakers according to preset output configuration conditions to enable the speakers to output the sound, determines the image division and display status of the display device and the external display devices, and adjusts the sound output configuration conditions of the speakers according to the determination result. 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 디스플레이장치는, 디스플레이와; 하나 이상의 스피커와; 디스플레이에 영상이 표시되고 스피커로부터 음성이 출력되게 영상신호를 처리하는 신호처리부와; 하나 이상의 외부 디스플레이장치와 통신하는 통신 인터페이스와; 신호처리부에 의해 처리되는 음성을 기 설정된 출력지정 상태에 따라서 하나 이상의 스피커에 출력 가능하게 전달하며, 디스플레이장치 및 하나 이상의 외부 디스플레이장치에 대한 영상의 분할 및 표시상태를 판단하고, 판단 결과에 따라서 하나 이상의 스피커에 대한 음성의 출력지정 상태를 조정하는 제어부를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
