Summary:Disclosed are a low density parity check (LDPC) decoder and a decoding method thereof in a digital video broadcasting system. The LDPC decoder comprises: a memory for storing a log-likelihood ratio (LLR) value of each bit outputted by a demapper and an LLR message exchanged between a variable node and an inspection node; and a node processor for selecting a decoding algorithm among a first algorithm and a second algorithm based on a code rate of an LDPC code, and decoding the LLR message based on the selected decoding algorithm.
