Summary:The present invention provides an apparatus to control vehicle engine output which avoids situations requiring high torque and driving failure occurring even when driving in slow speed while suppressing the increase in overheating of the oil temperature in a torque converter. The apparatus to control engine output includes: a control device performing determination control which determines that a torque converter (2) is in a stall state if the determination conditions wherein a shift range is a driving range, velocity (V) is equal to or less than a preset predetermined velocity, and an engine (1) in a high-output state are satisfied based on a shift range detector (70), a velocity detector (39), and an engine output state detector (12); an accumulation control accumulating the satisfied time duration if the determination conditions are satisfied; and an output suppressing control suppressing output of the engine (1) if a control starting condition is satisfied by the accumulation of the satisfied time duration, wherein the control starting condition is set to have the starting of the output suppressing control be delayed as the velocity (V) of a vehicle is increased.
