Summary: | The objective of the present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing a monolith column case and to a monolith column case manufactured thereby. For such, the present invention provides the method for manufacturing the monolith column case comprising the following steps: forming a chemically inactivated polymer layer on the outer surface of silica monolith for a monolith column (step 1); and forming a high modulus polymer layer on the outer surface of the chemically inactivated polymer layer formed in step 1 (step 2). Also, the present invention provides the chemically inactivated polymer layer, which is manufactured by the above method and is formed on the outer surface of the silica monolith for the monolith column, and the monolith column case including the high modulus polymer layer which is formed on the outer surface of the chemically inactivated polymer layer. According to the present invention, the chemically and physically stable monolith column case can be manufactured by forming the high modulus polymer layer on the outer surface of the chemically inactivated polymer layer after forming the chemically inactivated polymer layer from polymers with enhanced chemical resistance. In addition, a main body of a chromatography column can be inexpensively and simply manufactured through a method which manufactures the polymer in a film form and tapes the outer surface of the monolith with the polymer or coats the outer surface of the monolith with the polymer solution; therefore, the method for manufacturing the monolith column case of the present invention facilitates the manufacturing process and enhances economics of the manufacturing process. |
