Summary:A user terminal device capable of attaching and detaching a pen is disclosed. The user terminal device includes a display configured to display a screen, a detector configured to detect a user operation regarding the screen, and a controller configured to change a layout of the screen to correspond to a pen use mode when the pen is removed from the user terminal device, to perform a control operation corresponding to the detected user operation when the user operation using the pen is detected, and to restore the layout of the screen to its original state when the pen is remounted on the user terminal device. Accordingly, various interactions using the pen are possible.
