Summary:In a scheme of driving scanning lines from both ends, an operation of outputting an inappropriate scanning signal is prevented from being performed even if the same scanning line drive unit is used. First and second scanning line drive units are disposed at both ends of the scanning lines to drive each scanning line. The first scanning line drive unit performs a forward direction scanning signal output to sequentially select the scanning lines in the order from the first output terminal to the m^th output terminal in a state that the first to m^th output terminals are connected respectively to the first to m-th scanning lines. The second scanning line drive unit performs a reverse direction scanning signal output to sequentially select the scanning lines in the order from the m^th output terminal to the first output terminal in a state that the m^th to first output terminals are connected respectively to the first to m^th scanning lines. In this case, the first scanning line drive unit allows the scanning signals of the odd-numbered output terminals to have a first blanking period, and the scanning signals of the even-numbered output terminals to have a second blanking period. The second scanning line drive unit allows the scanning signals of the odd-numbered output terminals to have the second blanking period, and the scanning signals of the even-numbered output terminals to have the first blanking period. Therefore, mutually different signals are prevented from being output from both ends.
