Summary:An electromagnetic relay is smoothly operated while saving power even a movable contact piece having a high modulus of elasticity is used. The electromagnetic relay comprises a fixed contact piece (38) having a fixed contact (45); a movable contact piece (39) having a movable contact (51) opposite to the fixed contact (45) to be contacted, and can be elastically transformed; a support member (40) forcing the movable contact piece (39) toward the fixed contact piece (38); an electromagnet (18); and an intermediate member (34) operated by excitation of the electromagnet (18) to elastically transform the movable contact piece (51).
