Summary:The present invention provides an apparatus and a method for measuring the optical performance of a phosphor within a short time. The measurement apparatus (1) includes a light source (52) to irradiate a phosphor with excitation light; a light receiving unit (10) to receive light transmitted from the phosphor and fluorescence generated from the phosphor due to the excitation light; and a detector (200) to detect the light received by the light receiving unit. The light receiving unit includes a housing (12) having a predetermined length in an irradiating direction of the excitation light; a light diffusion unit (14) disposed at the phosphor side of the housing (12); and a window (18) disposed opposite to the light diffusion unit of the housing to induce incident fluorescence to the detector.
