Summary:The present invention relates to a method for a multiple input multiple output (MIMO) transmission using antennas of a plurality of cells by a base station in a multi-cell wireless communication system, which comprises the steps of selecting cells and rank values for a downlink MIMO transmission of a terminal based on measurement information of the base station and the terminal, and determining precoding matrix according to the rank values; and transmitting data streams to the terminal by mapping the data streams to the antennas of the cells through a precoder after generating the data to be transmitted to the terminal as the data streams corresponding to the selected rank values.
