The present invention relates to a lighting device using a transparent display panel. The lighting device using a transparent display panel comprises: a light source (100); a transparent display panel (120) to penetrate light irradiated from the light source (100), and emit the light dimmed in one or more types of various colors, images, and videos; and a control unit (210) to control the dimming by converting a lighting pattern inputted by a user into a signal which can be processed in the transparent display panel (120). Therefore, the lighting device using the transparent display panel and the method for controlling the dimming can create lighting in various lighting patterns like various colors, images, and videos, etc. by visible ray penetration characteristics of the transparent display panel (120) and the electrical control technology.
