Summary:An apparatus and a method for replacing a drive pulley of a belt conveyor are disclosed, wherein the work efficiency of a replacing process for the drive pulley of the belt conveyor is improved. The apparatus for replacing the drive pulley of the belt conveyor comprises: a fixing unit using a weight to press and fix return and transfer belts of a belt conveyor to maintain tension; a winding unit removing the tension applied to the belt conveyor by lifting the weight up. The method for replacing the drive pulley of the belt conveyor according to the present invention is provided to use the weight to vertically pressurize the return and transfer belts of the belt conveyor maintaining tension, and to replace the drive pulley after removing the tension applied to the belt conveyor by lifting the weigh up.
