Summary:A part pickup head of chip mounting apparatus can move up and down after the position of a shaft is determined with regard to the shaft housing of a head body, can rotate with regard to the center axis of the shaft, and has a part pickup unit which maintains parts in the lower part of the shaft. The part pickup unit is fixed to the lower part of the shaft. A buffer member which applies an elastic force which reacts against the raise of the shaft is installed in a position which is higher than the position of the shaft housing.
