An icon-related screen controlling method and a set-top box performing the same are provided. The provided screen controlling method which enables the set-top box to control the screen of a display device includes the following steps of: outputting a whole display mode user interface in which a category bar displaying services capable of being used in the display device in the top according to categories, and an icon subset display window having multiple icons displaying the services in the lower end of the category bar are arranged in the whole screen; receiving a user input signal which selects an icon from a remote control in a state in which the icon is activated among the icons; and outputting the execution screen of the icon.
