Summary: | The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus of measuring a temperature of a melt for production of sapphire in which the temperature of a central bottom portion of a crucible receiving and coming in contact with the melt is measured to precisely control the temperature of the melt. The measuring device includes: a driving shaft supporting a crucible of the apparatus for producing sapphire; a hollow portion formed inside a longitudinal direction of the driving shaft and having a predetermined inner diameter; a heat shield and light transmissive member installed at a lower end portion of the driving shaft; a temperature measuring means installed at a lower portion of the driving shaft to be oriented toward the central bottom surface of the crucible and measuring the temperature; a flange fixing the heat shield and light transmissive member; and an O-ring installed between the driving shaft and the flange to maintain vacuum of the hollow portion. The temperature measuring means is one of a heat-sensitive thermometer, an infrared thermometer, an infrared radiation thermometer, a two-color (black and white) pyrometer, and an infrared CCD camera, and the heat shield and light transmissive member is made of transparent quartz having high heat-resistance. |
