Summary:The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for distinguishing five fingers in an electronic device including a touch screen. The method comprises the steps of: sensing touch points of five fingers; and, by using a center point of a circle passing through at least one touch point among the touch points of the five fingers or by using the distance between the touch points of the five fingers, mapping the five fingers to thumb, index finger, middle finger, ring finger, little finger. The five fingers may be effectively recognized regardless of a touch area and x/y coordinates. Also, without using a special camera and fingerprint recognition module, five fingers may be distinguished.
