In one embodiment, a method includes capturing a medical image configured to be displayed on a medical image display device. The present methods may be independent of the medical image display, and may be able to capture images from any proprietary medical image viewer. The method may also include capturing description data related to the medical image. Additionally, the method may include processing the medical image and the description data related to the medical image on a data processing device. Also, the method may include storing the medical image and the description data related to the medical image in a data storage device.
