Summary:The present invention relates to a power line communication modem and a watt hour meter including the same. The power line communication modem includes: a power line communication modem connecting unit which is formed in a communication modem; an external coupling device which is installed in a lead-in cable connected to a first power terminal of the watt hour meter; and a coupler cable which electrically connects the power line communication modem connecting unit to the external coupling device. Thereby, a noise from a meter module of the watt hour meter is minimized and the attenuation of a power line communication signal is reduced by receiving the power line communication signal inputted to the power line communication modem from a coupler which is installed in the lead-in cable connected to the first power terminal.
