Summary: | The present invention relates to a manufacturing method of a phosphor precursor capable of obtaining more uniform composition for a phosphor. The phosphor precursor contains a garnet phase represented by the composition formula 1. In the formula 1, A is one or more kinds of rare-earth elements selected from Y, Gd, and Lu, B is Ce and/or Tb, 0.002<=x<=0.2, and C is Al and/or Ga. The method comprises a step of suspending γalumina particle the BET specific surface is 50 m^2/g or higher, simultaneously adding urea into a suspension solution in which the rare-earth element salts are dissolved, and heating the same to form the mixed particle of γalumina particle and the rare-earth element salts; a step of separating the mixed particle from the suspension solution after heating; sintering the mixed particle at 1,000°C or lower to obtain the mixed particle oxide of a rare-earth element oxide and alumina. |
