Summary: | A two-stroke cycle crosshead low-speed compression ignition engine is operated by the steps of: supplying diesel fuel as pilot fuel and low sulfur fuel as main fuel to the engine; and lubricating cylinders of the engine using lubricating oil. The lubricating oil has a cleaning agent system which is composed of 20 or less of a base number (BN) and one or more metallic cleaning agents having a surface activating radical selected from phenate, salicylate, and sulfonate or one or more composite metallic cleaning agents having two or more different surface activating soap bases selected from the phenate, the salicylate, and the sulfonate. Also, the lubricating oil is composed of distilled cashew nut hull liquid or hydrated distilled cashew nut hull liquid. |
