Summary:The present invention discloses a liquid crystal display device. The liquid crystal display device includes a gate electrode formed on a first substrate, a gate insulating film, a semiconductor layer, a blocking layer and a thin film transistor composed of a source electrode and a drain electrode, a protective film formed on a substrate on which the thin film transistor and the blocking layer are formed, a color filter layer and a flattening film formed on the protective film, and a pixel electrode formed by touching the train electrode through a contact hole on the flattening film. The blocking layer is overlapped with the color filter layer in order to reduce optical transmittance. The liquid crystal display device and a manufacturing method thereof are capable of reducing optical transmittance by overlapping the blocking layer with the color filter layer between a gate line and a common wire and preventing the leakage of light even with orientation inequality or optical axis twist. In addition, productivity is improved by reducing costs and simplifying processes by forming a semiconductor layer and the blocking layer at the same time without forming a black matrix. An operation fault can be prevented by forming a column spacer between the gate line and the common wire.
