The present invention relates to a composition for preventing and treating neuroinflammation containing Gastrodia elata extracts and a method for manufacturing the Gastrodia elata extracts and, more specifically, a composition for preventing and treating neuroinflammation which contains 4-HBA(Hydroxybenzyl alcohol), which is an active ingredient in the Gastrodia elata extracts and which has an effect in inhibiting neuroinflammation by suppressing pro inflammatory mediators in neuroglial cells, and a method for manufacturing the Gastrodia elata extracts. The present invention compsises: (A) a step for producing Gastrodia elata-ethanol compound by putting Gastrodia elata into ethanol; (B) a step for pulverizing the Gastrodia elata-ethanol compound produced by the (A) step; amd (C) a step for obtaining Gastrodia elata-ethanol extracts by enriching and drying the Gastrodia elata-ethanol compound pulverized by the (B) step.
