Summary:PURPOSE: A heat exchanger for traction converters is provided to use a two-phase heat transfer principle to efficiently remove the input heat without a pumping unit if a pipe is oriented relative to the gravity in order that the operational fluid is driven by the gravity. CONSTITUTION: A heat exchanger for traction converters comprises a first heat exchanger module (10) having a first evaporator channel (120) and a first compressor channel (130). A first evaporator channel and a first condenser channel are arranged in a first pipe (11). The first evaporator channel and the first condenser channel are connected by a first upper distributing manifold (30) and a first lower distribution manifold (33). The first evaporator channel and the first condenser channel form a first loop for the operational fluid. The first heat exchanger module includes a first evaporator heat transfer element (28) to deliver the heat in the first evaporator channel and a first condenser transfer element (29) to deliver the heat to the outside of the first condenser channel. The heat exchanger includes a second heat exchanger in which is coupled with the first heat exchanger module by a fluid connecting element to exchange the operational fluid between the first heat exchanger module and a second heat exchanger module (210).
