Summary: | PURPOSE: A gear shift control apparatus of a belt type continuously variable transmission is provided to prevent a belt from being slipped when an engine is stopped during a cost stop control. CONSTITUTION: A variator changes a gear ratio by changing a winding diameter of a belt which is inserted and supported by a hydraulic pressure supplied to a pulley. A friction fastening element connected to the variator delivers driving power of a driving power source to a driving wheel to be possibly controlled. A control unit (12) reduces a torque transmission capacity which is possibly delivered by the friction fastening element during a cost stop control for stopping the driving power source while driving a vehicle to be lower than a belt capacity which is torque possibly delivered by the belt by an insertion support force of the pulley.
