PURPOSE: An electrowetting display device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to form an additional water-repellent layer after forming a partition, thereby preventing a residue of the partition material from remaining in the water-repellent layer. CONSTITUTION: An electrowetting display device comprises a lower substrate; a pixel electrode (190) disposed on the lower substrate; a lower water-repellent layer (90) disposed on the pixel electrode; a plurality of partitions (350) disposed on the lower water-repellent layer; and a black oil layer disposed on the lower water-repellent layer between the partitions. The partitions comprise a side wall having a reverse taper structure. The partitions are formed in the form of a matrix pattern with an opening. An area of the lower surface of the partitions is smaller than an area of the upper surface of the partitions. The partitions are formed of an organic layer comprising a black dye. The lower water-repellent layer has an increasing portion protruded upward along the side wall of the partitions.
