PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device is provided to increase transmittance by reducing texture even if there are differences between cell gaps on a liquid crystal layer. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal layer (3) is placed between a first substrate and a second substrate. A pixel electrode (191) is placed on the first substrate and at one pixel among multiple pixels. A counter electrode (270) faces the pixel electrode with the liquid crystal layer in between. One of the pixel electrode and counter electrode includes a liquid crystal slope direction determining component. A light-transmitting region of a pixel includes a first region and a second region, where cell gaps of the liquid crystal layer are different. Stretching directions of the liquid crystal slope direction determining component are different in the first region and in the second region.
