Summary: | PURPOSE: A light power control method of an ethernet passive optical network (EPON) optical line terminal (OLT) in an optical line terminal system is provided to gather information of a light power level and the receive sensitivity of already installed optical network terminals (ONT) and new ONTs in a registration stage of the new ONTs for managing the optimal OLT light power output level. CONSTITUTION: A protocol processing unit (111) sets the level of the light power output based on the difference between the reception power and the receive sensitivity from messages received from more than one ONTs through a process of receiving the messages. The messages include information of the reception power and the receive sensitivity of a corresponding ONT. A transmitter outputs in the light power output level set by the data transmission to the ONTs after the setting from the protocol processing unit.
