PURPOSE: An automatic transmission apparatus for shift-by-wire is provided to perform manipulation to convert a drive mode during travelling easily, by performing conversion of the travelling drive mode by using a tilting manipulation of a gearshift. CONSTITUTION: A transmission(10) is operated selectively by a plurality of travelling drive modes related with shift. A gearshift(20) comprises a handle and a tilting sensor. A control part(40) calculates tilting information on the basis of a tilting signal sensed from the tilting sensor. The control part selects one of the travelling drive modes by using the calculated tilting information. The control part sets up the transmission to be operated in the selected travelling drive mode.
