ULTRASONIC PEENING METHOD AND FLOATING BUILDING

An ultrasonic peening method which, in order to improve the fatigue strength of the weld (3) between a floating building (1) and a structure (2) welded to the floating building (1), applies an impact to the weld (3) by a pin (4) vibrated by an ultrasonic wave. The ultrasonic peening method comprises...

Summary:An ultrasonic peening method which, in order to improve the fatigue strength of the weld (3) between a floating building (1) and a structure (2) welded to the floating building (1), applies an impact to the weld (3) by a pin (4) vibrated by an ultrasonic wave. The ultrasonic peening method comprises: a building construction step for constructing the floating building (1); a structure welding step for attaching the structure (2) to the floating building (1) by welding; a building launching step for lowering the floating building (1), to which the structure (2) has been attached, into water; and an ultrasonic peening step for applying ultrasonic peening to the weld (3) of the floating building (1) having buoyancy.
