Summary:PURPOSE: A nickel composite hydroxide for a lithium secondary battery is provided to improve particle diameter and density, thereby improving lifetime of a lithium secondary battery. CONSTITUTION: A nickel composite hydroxide for a lithium secondary battery is represented by chemical formula 1: Ni_(1-x-y-z)Co_xM_yMn_z(OH)_2 and has a small composition distribution of M. In chemical formula 1, M is Al, Zr, Ti, Mg, Si, or Zn; x is a number from 0-0.5; y is a number from 0.01-0.2; and z is a number from 0-0.5. The composition distribution of M is 2% or less in EDS(energy dispersive spectroscopy) analysis. The average particle diameter of the nickel composite hydroxide is 5-25 micron and tab density is 1.0-3.0 g/cm^3.
