Summary:PURPOSE: An in-plane switching mode liquid crystal display device is provided to reduce the light leakage of an inclined surface. CONSTITUTION: In an upper polarizing plate(20), the light emitted from a backlight unit(40) passes through a liquid crystal cell(30), a first second phase difference layer(21), a second phase difference layer(22), and a polarizer(23). In a lower polarizing plate(10), the light emitted from the backlight unit passes through a second protection film(13), a polarizer(12), and a third phase difference layer(11). The first phase difference layer has normal dispersion and flat dispersion properties.
