Summary:PURPOSE: A method and system for providing heterojunction using half-metallic ferromagnets are provided to improve the performance of magnetic junction by reducing critical/switching currents by semi-metallic materials. CONSTITUTION: A pinned layer(110) has a pinned layer magnetization. A free layer(130) has a magnetization easy axis. A non-magnetic spacer layer(120) is located between the pinned layer and the free layer. One of the free layer and the pinned layer includes one half-metal. When a write current flows through a magnetic junction, the free layer is switched between a plurality of stable magnetic states.
