Summary: | PURPOSE: An electrode and a method for supplying a current to a reactor are provided to reduce thermal loads on electrode seals by electrically and mechanically reducing the thickness of seal walls. CONSTITUTION: A method for supplying a current to a reactor is as follows: One or more electrodes(13) are fed through a wall of the reactor and connected to electrically conductive devices so that an operating voltage is supplied to each electrically conductive device and a current flows through the electrically conductive devices. A seal(6) composed of electrically insulating materials is located between the reactor wall and the electrodes. An electric energy network is monitored for insulation failures. A shutdown-switching threshold of an electric energy supply unit is determined before shutdown of the electric energy supply unit caused by a leaking current when an insulation resistance is reduced. |
