Summary:PURPOSE: A sheet transferring and holding device is provided to hold a sheet to a flat orientation without adding unreasonable costs and complexity. CONSTITUTION: A sheet transferring and holding device comprises a belt(18), a vacuum plenum, and a static holding device. The belt is connected to a driving mechanism by an operation type, thereby being moved to a process direction passing by an image marking unit. The belt comprises a plurality of openings and supports a medium. The vacuum plenum is connected to a vacuum source by the operation type and applies negative pressure to the medium in order to hold the medium in the belt. The static holding device comprises a first fixing roller. The first fixing roller becomes separated from a transversal process direction from a second fixing roller.
