Summary:PURPOSE: A secondary battery is provided to derive a short from outside the electrode assembly before the electrode assembly is deformed if a case is deformed by external force. CONSTITUTION: A secondary battery comprises: an electrode assembly(10) comprising a first electrode and a second electrode; a metal support plate(30) arranged at least one side of the electrode assembly by being electrically connected to the first electrode; and a case electrically connected to the second electrode, and accommodating the electrode assembly and the metal support plate to be electrically insulated with the metal support plate. The metal support plate additionally comprises a protrusion(31) protruded toward the inside of the case. The metal support plate comprise a flat part(32) facing with one side of the electrode assembly, and a joint part(33) bent from one side of the flat part along the electrode assembly and connected to the uncoated part.
