Summary: | The present invention relates to a method for producing pig iron in a melter-gasifier (1), wherein a CO- and H2-containing generator gas is produced while supplying solid carbon-containing material and oxygen-containing gas, wherein the solid carbon-containing material is supplied to the melter-gasifier (1) in part by means of adding fragmented solid carbon-containing material to the melter-gasifier (1), and is supplied in another part by means of injecting fine-particulate solid carbon-containing material into the melter-gasifier, wherein the fine-particulate solid carbon-containing material and/or starting material for the fine-particulate solid carbon-containing material is obtained at least in part by subjecting solid carbon-containing material to a pretreatment containing size classification and thermal drying, and developing material having a particle diameter of less than 10 mm, preferably less than 8 mm, and most preferably less than 5 mm, is withdrawn. The method is characterized in that carbon-containing slurry, and/or concentrate obtained from such slurry, is combined, after mechanical dewatering, with the material stemming from the solid carbon-containing material, which must be dried thermally during the thermal drying step of the pretreatment, and the resulting product to be dried thermally is subjected to thermal drying, and said thermal drying takes place with mechanical movement of the product to be dried thermally. The present invention further relates to a device for carrying out such a method. |
