Summary:PURPOSE: An authentication server and a method for authenticating access of the server in an interworking-wireless local area network(I-WLAN) are provided to allow third generation terminals without subscriber information from universal subscriber identification modules(USIM) to access the I-WLAN. CONSTITUTION: A message processing part(322) receives a first authentication request message from a packet data gateway to extract the subscriber identification(SID) information of a terminal. The first authentication request message includes the SID information which the terminal acquires from a network access information server. An information managing part(324) manages the SID information. An authenticating part(326) executes extensible authentication protocol-transport layer security-based authentication based on the SID information. The terminal includes an USIM.
