The data estimation method involves: a step (S11) in which a sensor attached to a piece of equipment measures first status data thereof; a step (S12) in which the sensor adds the ID assigned to the measured equipment to the status data thereof; a step in which the sensor informs a data estimation device of the status data of the measured equipment and the ID thereof; a step (S13) in which the data estimation device acquires the first status data and the ID; a step (S14) in which the data estimation device stores the first status data and the ID acquired; a step (S15) in which the data estimation device identifies a second piece of equipment to which the sensor is not attached; and a step (S16) in which the data estimation device estimates second status data by creating a mathematical formula according to hierarchical information concerning the ID, the hierarchical information being stored in advance in a storage section.
